Rescued emaciated dog dies

GARFIELD HEIGHTS — A sad update to a story that has captured the local region’s attention.

A neglected dog that was found last week has died.

The boxer, which was found in Garfield Heights, was discovered in an emaciated state.

The Garfield & Maple Heights Animal Rescue Team dubbed her “Little Girl.” They say she was frostbitten and missing an eye at the time she was found.

City officials say the dog’s owner had called police and reported it as a stray. Upon investigation, that woman was issued several citations once it was determined she was the owner.

The owner is expected in court next week, according to city officials.
